November 1st I vowed to get back into my daily exercise routine. I go through spouts of exercising regularly and always feel great when I do but then things get hectic and I fall out of the habit... I last 3 days this time. Today i've had hours at home alone when I could get off my ass and exercise. It is a glorious day out, i could even go for a run but something in my head is holding me back. Wish i knew what it was or how to get rid of that blockage but it is still there. At least i've been doing alright in the food tracking so what i lack in exercise i make up for in healthier eating... but there are some days when that is just kicked curbside too!!!

I think 2 things have helped me stay committed so long. One is finding things I really love and am not doing for the "exercise" but for the "experience", and the other is paying for it. I pay a lot for my yoga classes, as well as running gear and registration fees for races...but it makes me keep it up. I do not want my hard earned money to be wasted!
ReplyDeleteGood work on the food tracking.
i can't pay for exercise at the moment but do plan on setting up a more detailed plan for getting to it. My problem most evenings is after getting the kids to bed i'm usually too frazzled/exhausted to move. I have decided that instead of making my priority sequence, TV, cleaning, exercise I am going to reverse it. We are thinking of cancelling cable which i hope might help me get out of the couch potato habit i'm in right now!
ReplyDeleteafter i posted this i did hop on the elliptical for 3 km. Not my normal 5 but it was something. Since i've been feeling like crap all day i'm happy i got on it at all!
Good!
ReplyDeleteThat is another reason I like to get out to exercise...there are less distractions so when I leave the house for it, I do it. I can procrastinate at home with other tasks until it is too late! It is expensive, I invest a lot in my yoga...but it has been worth it for me. Health, fitness, body, and self esteem wise.
That said, I am not running these days so I am depending on my elliptical for cardio and usually hopping on doing it 3 times a week ...I do it right after the kids are in bed, and do not watch TV off the elliptical if I have not exercised that day. It means I need the elliptical in my bedroom (no space really,I have to stand on it to get into my closet!)because having it in front of there I watch TV really helps, because I feel guilty to see it out of the corner of my eye when I am watching TV (which I usually do on the computer, but it is is the same room still) and not get on it. Although I actually prefer it with music to TV, but when I really want to watch something and need to exercise, it is a good way to do both!
Anyways, you are motivated and I am sure you will find a system that works for you. Come spring, let's start running together...really!
