to snow tire or not

We have never changed our tires over to snow tires. This year I feel that we really should do it. I never realized the significant safety differences but after reading articles on this issue I am now convinced that putting snow tires on is the way to go- especially as we drive little ones around all the time.
Just wondering if any (if there are any!!) of my readers use snow tires, and if so what type or do you have any recommendations on brand, place to go etc...

Every year I say I am going to, especially since I drive on country roads a lot...then I stall until it is too late to bother. Maybe this year I will finally get them!

  2. We got them put on two years ago after the van got stuck on a narrow and steep country road on the way to the Man's boss's cottage - scary stuff - we had to leave the car and get it in the morning (our host came down to get us) - next morning we went to move the car, we saw that were inches from an incline that dropped several feet, without realizing it.

We don't go to the country much, but we bought snow tires just after that. It's just so worth it, and makes a big difference on the roads, esp. north of T.O., even in the burbs.

Hope you and family are well!

We change our tires every year on both cars...but we are ex-Montrealers, so we really believe it is safer to drive properly equipped for the weather!

Coincidentally I just posted 4 snow tires on Craig's List. We just traded in my Sienna and had to get different tires for the new car. They are 2 year old Yokohama's on rims if you are interested in an inexpensive way to try it and see the difference...

  4. My husband drives a plow truck on I-5 in Washington state. Every time there is snow all the cars without snow tires get stuck and the plow truck drivers get blamed for not clearing the roads. They cant clear snow thats under cars!!! GO GET THE SNOW TIRES. Please. Save yourself a ticket too, if the cops decide to tow your car.

  5. Denise- in my province it isn't mandatory for people to get snow tires. I do want them but they are expensive and in the 20 years since I've been driving I've never felt I needed them-until now!
I will look at them and see if we can afford it this year0if not then for sure next winter!
