Here i am at 4:50 in the morning wide awake. My poor little boy has been up every night for the last 3 weeks with either teething pains, coughing or a blocked nose. I have done everything i can and it just doesn't seem like enough. He has been nursed to the point that I am so sore, his nose has been baby-vacced, and he has been given Tempra, Camillia, and Anbesol...and against my husbands' advice i have rocked my crying baby to sleep. BUT GUESS WHAT??? It worked! Thank goodness.
NOW I have to deal with my own cold and sore throat. I thought I was coughing yesterday due to a reaction to something i smelled but NOPE, i have a full blown cold now too. I think i'll go sleep in front of the TV on the sofa as not to disturb hubby who is now peacefully sleeping thanks to my rocking baby to sleep!

Before my son was born I was sure I wanted to breastfeed. I was convinced about the positive aspects of nursing and was not going to pollute...

Oh, Dina! I hope you and Elie feel better soon. Winter colds really, really suck. I'm just getting over mine. Poor little Elie...a cold AND teething!!
ReplyDeleteHey Dina - hang in there, spring's almost here! Hope you get better soon and the sniffles are a thing of the past for your household. I've been having a lingering one myself for the past month or so, keeps passing from one kid, to the next, to the big kid then to me ugh!
ReplyDeleteNeat snot-sucker thingy, BTW :)
Oh, rock away. Honestly, every single thing I did with Zoƫ that I was told not to because then she'd never get over it (, brestfeeding past a year, nursing or rocking to sleep, feeding her in front of the TV because she hated solids, letting her fall asleep in our bed, letting her sleep in our bed when she is sick, wearing her in a carrier instead of making her go in a stroller) she grew out between 18 months-3. I cannot promise this will always happen, but they are little for such a short time...do what works.
ReplyDeleteHope you and Elie are feeling better soon!
we're both doing much better, now that the doctor gave us permission to drug ourselves silly. well not quite but i did give Elie baby dimetap and took more Tylenol cold and flu for myself.
ReplyDeleteLittle guy slept almost the whole day except for the 2 hour adventure to the doctor's office, which luckily is in the superstore so i could pick up everything we needed in one shot. He even went to sleep at 5:30 this evening and hasn't woken up yet (which probably means he'll be up at 3 am again screaming but what can we do?!?!)
Now i should put my PJ's on and go sleep too...
Hey D,
ReplyDeleteHope that you are all feeling better, We are in the same boat over here, we have colds I think from the plane ride home as there were many people sneezing. I can't take anything but I have been giving Nathanial Dimetap as well as rocking him to sleep. When babies are sick they need the comfort of mommy. Hope everyone is better.
Sounds like you're doing a great job. With Snowflake I was and am into following my instincts. Rocking that baby is good for BOTH of you. I nursed my bambino until he was 26 months so I am always proud to see another mamma using her tools for what they were meant for! You go mamma! Have you tried Dr. Blahdiddy Blah's teething tablets? A few times they really seemed to do the trick.
